Editorial

Greetings and salutations to you all (Hi!). Here we are again in the merry old month of March (slightly earlier than normal – how efficient is that, ah).

If you haven’t already booked your tickets for The Odd Couple (Female Version), time is running out and you should do so ASAP. There are only four performances left and the season finishes on Saturday, 19 March 2005. Bookings can be made by ringing 355 0499 or calling in to the Abbey Booking Office.

We should inform you also, that due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be staging Seven Brides for Seven Brothers this year. We will, therefore, keep you informed of any further progress in due course.

Ross has been on the Board previously and is an Accountant with McKenzie McPhail here in Palmerston North. The appointed Board members who join Ross on the Board are Martin Carr, Greg Thorburn, Allan Nagy, Kevin Monk and John Spelman. Our Patron for the 2005/06 year is Ron Osborne, and our Auditor is Al Hadwin.

“Hot Mikado”

Senior students from PNBHS and PNGHS will set the Speirs Centre alight (no pun intended) at the end of March with the colourful swing/jazz/gospel fusion which is Hot Mikado. Featuring well known numbers such as Three Little Maids from School and Tit Willow, this take on Gilbert and Sullivan’s original preserves the melodies and story lines whilst setting them in the 1940’s and feasting on the costumes, musical arrangements and dance styles of that era. Hot Mikado is not a politically correct show. It delights in poking the borax at just about everyone – politicians, bureaucrats, the English, the Americans, the Japanese … and perhaps all of us who take ourselves too seriously at times.
