Editorial

Happy New Year to one and all. We hope 2005 turns out to be everything you wish, or hope, for – and hope you haven’t already broken the same old resolutions you make every year, without fail.

We’re sure 2005 will end up being as busy and entertaining as 2004 was. We have some great shows lined up for 2005 – starting with The Odd Couple (Female Version) which is on stage at the Abbey in March. Following The Odd Couple is the classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, to be staged, again in the Abbey, in May. Details of auditions will be notified at a later date.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”

If you didn’t see this show, you missed a goodie! It opened to rave reviews from all the critics. This show was a breakaway from our ‘normal’ Christmas entertainment, but it was received very well amongst the public of the Manawatu, and beyond.

The production team of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change wishes to extend their grateful thanks to those people who assisted in this production in any way. We’re sure you will all know that the end of 2004 was an extremely busy time in the Manawatu and its outer regions in terms of theatre, and manpower was extremely scarce. So thank you to everyone involved. You helped to make this production a success.

CATS

From the CATS Principal Tutor...

Our Children’s Theatre School is gearing up for a very promising year. I have opened up the classes to include a junior class for 6-7 year olds, and a senior class for 16-19 year olds. Enrolments for all ages are currently being taken so if you know anyone who may be interested in joining CATS, please contact me through the Abbey Administration Office. I would also like to welcome a new Tutor to our teaching staff. Her name is Karen Salvador and she comes to us from America where she has been teaching drama and music. Karen is full of life and is a talented performer and teacher and we are very excited to have her on board. Kathleen, who you all know, and I will continue in our roles as CATS Tutors this year. Together we aim to bring the level of teaching to an all time high. Plans are afoot for the CATS annual musical production in September. We would like to secure a building and technical crew as soon as possible, so if you can be of any assistance in these areas, please let me know (bear in mind that there will be some daytime performances). Children’s theatre is such an important asset and we need to give it our full support.

Happy New Year to you all!
